Problem: Cell segmentation, quantification of images, disease diagnosis.
Background required: Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, MATLAB or Phython programming, Strong Math Skills, Very Good English Reading and Writing. Must be able to work with Medical Specialists.
Position: up to 2 Master's positions.
Problem: Using patient scans as a reference, modeling and building (with a 3D printer) medical devices.
Background required: Graphics Programming, 3D Modeling (based on patient scans), 3D Printer programming, Strong Math Skills, Very Good English Reading and Writing. Must be able to work with Medical Specialists and Surgeons.

Problem: Creatation of digital medical records with semantically correct fields from handwritten notes written on standard medical forms.
Background required: Document Analysis, Databases, Strong Math Skills, Excellent English Reading and Writing. Must be able to work with Medical Specialists.
Position: Summer NSERC USRA (paid undergraduate summer research position), or a COMP 490 or COMP 492 project.
Problem: Developing approaches based on Imitation-Learning to play games in the hard-exploration domain. Related reading: Go-Explore.
Background required: General AI and Reinforcement Learning specifically, Strong Math Skills, Good English Reading and Writing.
Position: Master's position, or NSERC USRA (paid undergraduate summer research position - any term).
Problem: Procedural generation of levels with minimum number of paths with "organic" or natural forms.
Background required: Unity/C# Programming, Strong Math Skills, Good English Reading and Writing.
