Vašek Chvatal to speak at upcoming SUMM 2011

Vašek Chvatal will give a lecture entitled "Discrete Mathematics of Paul Erdős" on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 13:30 as part of Seminars in Undergraduate Mathematics in Montreal (SUMM) 2011.

Abstract: Paul Erdős (1913 – 1996) was one of the greatest mathematicians of the twentieth century. He made pre-eminent contributions to number theory, probability theory, real and complex analysis, discrete geometry, approximation theory, and set theory; some say that he founded the field of discrete mathematics. This talk will be about some of his results in number theory, geometry, Ramsey theory, extremal combinatorial problems, and graph theory.

Chvatal is the Canada Research Chair in Combinatorial Optimization and Professor in Concordia University's Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.

AI in Education --- Poster session at AI 2008

AI 2008, the 21st Canadian Conference for Artificial Intelligence will host a poster session dedicated to AI in Education this year. If you have taught a course in Artificial Intelligence or a related topic lately, we would like to know about novel resources, a particularly well-appreciated approach, or ways to engage students, especially bridging the gap between students with prior knowledge and those without in one class.

The posters will be presented in a special session at AI 2008 in Windsor and archived through the CSCSI Webpage.

Please submit an abstract of at most one page in PDF format to:
