Teaching Assistant Application

Winter 2012 TA and Marker application is now closed. Application details for Summer 2012 TA positions will be announced in March.

Graduate students from the Computer Science and Software Engineering Department are invited to apply for our Teaching Assistant positions. Undergraduate students may also apply but must be excellent students in 3rd or 4th year of study (a minimal mark of A- in the course to be taught is needed). Please note that priority will be given to Masters and PhD students.

If you are a first-time applicant, please also send a copy of your most recent university transcript to ta [at] encs [dot] concordia [dot] ca

Please note that all applicants for tutor, lab demonstrator and programmers-on-duty positions require completion of the Health&Safety training if they have not already done so in past semesters.

TA applicants are also required to complete the COPTTA (Concordia Oral Proficiency Test for Teaching Assistants) English test if they have not already done so. The dates for both COPTTA and Health&Safety will be announced in March.

Please also make sure you are a member of the "cse-grad" or "cse-ugrad" email list to receive frequent updates about TA positions, COPTTA, and H&S dates and registration. If you are not sure whether you are a member of this list, please check with the AITS Helpdesk (H - 960).

The following are the only categories of students exempt from passing the COPTTA test:

  • Marker applicants
  • Students who have already passed COPTTA with a score of 4 or higher
  • Students who have completed at least 4 years of education in English in a Canadian school prior to starting their Bachelor's degree (i.e English high-school or cegep). The candidate must supply proof.
  • Note that students who have studied in an English school outside of Canada will still need to pass the COPTTA test.

For any questions, please contact ta [at] encs [dot] concordia [dot] ca
